Cardinal District BALOO Training
BALOO stands for Basic Adult Leader Outdoor Orientation. It is designed to introduce Cub Scout
Leaders to Pack overnight camping. This is an energetic training that will cover everything you need
to know to plan and run a Pack overnighter. It is more than just camping – it includes ideas for
outdoor activities, games, and ceremonies; information on selecting and using camping equipment;
how to run a campfire program; and hands-on Cub Scout cooking demonstrations! In short, you will
learn everything you need to know to make your pack overnighter a fun, successful event!
NOTE: A BALOO-trained leader must be present on any Cub Scout Pack or Den overnight event.
Gathering: 5:00pm-5:30pm – check in (please eat dinner before you come)
Training: 5:30pm – 9:00pm – Friday, 8:00am – 5:00pm – Saturday, bring tent, sleeping bag and personal gear, as well as your uniform. Breakfast will be provided on Saturday. Lunch will be cooked on Saturday as part of the requirements for the course. Please indicate any dietary restrictions.
Course fee: $30.00 – which includes campground rental, Saturday breakfast and lunch, hand-out materials, and training card
