Boy Scouts of America
Occoneechee Council, BSA was chartered in 1929 to provide young people in Chatham, Cumberland, Durham, Franklin, Granville, Harnett, Lee, Moore, Orange, Vance, Wake and Warren Counties with responsible fun and adventure while instilling in them lifetime values leadership and ethical character development. Over the years, we have grown into one of the largest and most prominent youth development organizations in North Carolina. Scouting has changed in many ways since our founding, but one thing has not changed – the values as expressed in the Scout Oath and Scout Law. For close to a century, Occoneechee Council has instilled North Carolina’s youth with the values of leadership, responsibility, patriotism, morality and service to others.
On my honor, I will do my best to do my duty to God and my country and to obey the Scout Law; To help other people at all times; To keep myself physically strong, mentally awake and morally straight.
A Scout Is:
Trustworthy, Loyal, Helpful, Friendly, Courteous, Kind, Obedient, Cheerful, Thrifty, Brave, Clean and Reverent.
