Scouting is a time-tested endeavor that instills positive values and must be a safe haven for all youth members and leaders who participate. We strive to make sure every youth in our program is afforded a safe and enjoyable experience while participating in the program. As a valued member of our Occoneechee Council Scouting family, we wanted to notify you of a procedural change to Youth protection training.
The Occoneechee Council and the National Council, BSA require all registered leaders to be youth protection trained. In an effort to achieve 100% compliance and facilitate the safety of our members, the Occoneechee Council’s Executive Board on March 23, 2023 approved a procedural change to its youth protection policy. The document is here for your review.
During this charter renewal period, please make sure your unit’s registered leader’s youth protection training will remain intact during the entire charter year. If this is not the case, encourage them to retake the training which is available at www.scouting.org/training/youth protection.

Please note if your YPT is not current by June 15, 2023, your registration will be suspended.
