Occoneechee Council Fee Increase

Dear Occoneechee Council Scouters and Parents:

Scouting matters!  Thank you for your continued service and involvement in the Scouting programs of the Occoneechee Council. The core values taught through these programs are foundational for our young people as they address and overcome challenges in their lives. The impact Scouting has on our young people and our community is enduring and we thank you for the role you have in that outcome.

As an update, our Executive Board voted to increase our Council Fee by $14 for all registered members.  Effective August 1, 2024, youth fees increased from $66 to $80 and adults from $12 to $26.  The fee structure is:

$165 per Youth Member:

• $85 National BSA Fee goes to the National Council
• $80 stays local in the Occoneechee Council (for the Council program fee + insurance)

$91 per registered Adult Member:

• $65 National BSA Fee goes to the National Council
• $26 stays local (for the Council program fee + insurance)

This increase will go toward the cost of providing essential resources that support our volunteers and youth members.  This was a difficult decision to make, but the Occoneechee Council’s Executive Board made the necessary decision to address the effects that inflation and rising costs has caused on our cost of doing business.  We know that this decision is not welcome news.   As noted above, the National Council’s Fee is now $85 per youth and $65 for adults goes to support their National Council operations.

There is a fund designated to help families in need of financial support called the Scout Assistance Fund. Details will be on www.ocscouts.org under the Resources tab then Forms.

Thank you for your continued role in equipping a generation of future leaders of character with the values needed to make ethical choices over the course of their lifetime through Scouting programs.

As a council, we are committed to ensuring that every Pack, Troop, Crew, Post/Club, and Ship in the Occoneechee Council have the best resources available to help them equip and deliver the mission and adventure of Scouting.
