Hello Scout Family,

What is your Scouting Story?

Mine began over 50 years ago when my Mom and Dad signed me up to be a Cub Scout. I became the youngest of three brothers to join Scouting… all of us achieved the Eagle rank. I share this because Scouting is not what I do, it is who I am. I really enjoy hearing your Scouting stories too… Why are you involved, and more importantly, what makes you compassionate about Scouting? If you are willing to share your story with me and our family of Scouters, please share at We hope to pass many of these stories through our social media channels and in future email communications. It is because of your passion and commitment that we are growing this movement… together.

As you may know, last month, our Board voted to develop a new funding model for the Occoneechee Council. We continue to receive feedback and questions from some of you and, as promised, we are taking all feedback seriously. Our next step is a series of Town Hall Meetings throughout the regions we serve. This is an opportunity for you to hear directly from Council Leadership and share your questions and feedback. Our goal remains to arrive at a solution that is in the best interest of our entire Scouting family.

The Town Halls are attached: Town Hall Schedule – Council Funding Model. Each will begin at 7:00pm in the various dates and locations noted. Please consider coming to one of these meetings that is convenient for you.

In our effort to continue to improve our communications and transparency, we have created a dedicated page on our website with information about the Occoneechee Council, including our revenue and expenses with an explanation of each line item, as well as the roles and responsibilities of the Council. This webpage also includes an FAQ section, which we will update regularly as new questions come in. In fact, we will be releasing an updated version of this later this week, and we will update it if warranted after each Town Hall Meeting. This webpage can be found at:

We have also created an email address for your questions and as a way to share your Scouting stories with us.

We look forward to hearing from you and seeing you at one of our Town Hall Meetings.

Thank you for the time, talents and energy you bring to the Scouting movement.
